Your questions answered

If you’re considering working with a Nurse Practitioner, you probably have a lot of questions. Here are some answers!

Finding answers to questions is essentially the nature of my job; I’m frequently helping people to figure things out, to find a way forward after being stuck for a long time.

Before deciding to work with me, however, often there are other questions that need to be answered first. Like this one:

My scope of practice as a nurse practitioner includes psychotherapy. In Ontario there are six regulated health care professions whose license allows them to practice psychotherapy. Nursing is one of the six.

My qualifications and my experience together mean that I have a lot to offer clients who are looking for addiction and mental health counselling. Finding appropriate treatment and solutions to concurrent disorders has long been a part of my approach.

If you’re considering working with me or another Nurse Practitioner, you may have other questions. Please check out the Frequently Asked Questions page for answers to questions like these:

  • I already have a primary care provider (MD or NP). Can I see you too? (HINT: Yes, you can.)
  • Can you refer to specialists? (Yes, absolutely.)
  • What’s different about you? (For that, I’ll direct you right to my About page.)
